As the new year approaches I want to thank each and every one of you for subscribing to this newsletter.
This newsletter started in June 2023 and we’ve had 27 issues, never missing a week!
This will be our last newsletter of the year given the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.
But fear not!

ChatGPT Gets Lazy In December. A theory suggests GPT-4's performance may dip during winter, reflecting human work patterns.
@OpenAI@tszzl@emollick@voooooogel Wild result. gpt-4-turbo over the API produces (statistically significant) shorter completions when it "thinks" its December vs. when it thinks its May (as determined by the date in the system prompt).

ChatGPT Subscriptions Are Back. OpenAI reopens ChatGPT Plus subscriptions after a pause due to high demand following the introduction of GPTs at DevDay.
ChatGPT Vision Does Gemini's Demo. After Google's misleading Gemini demo a user demonstrated ChatGPT Vision performing similar tasks challenging Gemini's claimed capabilities.
ChatGPT-4.5 Leak and Pricing. GPT-4.5's release was leaked and comes with a significant price increase 6-12x higher than GPT-4.
Google Gemini Pro API Pricing. Google Gemini Pro's API is now available at a significantly lower cost than GPT-4 making it more accessible to developers.
Google Launches NotebookLM. Google's NotebookLM allows users to interact with their notes creating outlines and engaging in conversations with their documents.
Google Relaunches MusicFX. Previously branded as MusicLM, Google introduces MusicFX an advanced AI music generation tool.
Google Releases Imagen 2. Imagen 2, a competitor to Midjourney and DALL-E 3, is now used by Shutterstock, Snapchat, & Canva.
Google Unleashes SMERF. SMERF (Streamable Memory Efficient Radiance Fields) offers advanced 3D environment rendering.
Claude for Google Sheets. Claude integration in Google Sheets is operational though users are experiencing initial bugs.
Meta Introduces Audiobox. Meta's Audiobox introduces advanced audio generation allowing voice changes, sound effects, and audio editing from text prompts.
Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Update. Meta updates its Ray-Ban smart glasses with vision capabilities enabling users to interact with what they see around them.
Midjourney Website and V6 Update. Midjourney's website launch bypasses the need for Discord potentially expanding its user base.
