Introducing Sora: The Future or a Deepfake Dilemma?
OpenAI just dropped Sora.
An AI tool that turns text into video that's almost too real.
Imagine typing a scene and watching it come to life —
That's Sora for you.
But here's the catch…
It's so good it's scary.
Sora can whip up anything from historical events,
To pure fantasy.
All from a few words.
Yet, this magic wand comes with a dark side.
The potential for creating ultra-realistic deepfakes.
Political deepfakes?
They're now easier than ever,
Raising the stakes for misinformation.
Why is this a big deal?
50% of the world population will have elections this year.
AI + Elections could be the perfect storm for deepfakes.
OpenAI's keeping Sora under wraps for now,
Testing it with experts to curb its dark potential.
But once it's out,
The genie's out of the bottle…
For good.
My Take:
Sora's like fire —
A powerful tool or a destructive force,
Depending on how we use it.
It's a marvel, no doubt.
But without the right safeguards,
It could lead to more bad than good.
Would I use Sora?
Yes because AI generated video is getting crazy good.
What’s crazier?
This happened in under a year.
What will it look like next year?
Or even 5 to 10 years from now.
Imagine combining the following:
Ultrarealistic Video (Sora)
3D Rendered Environments (Gaussian)
Natural Language Processing (ChatGPT)
More Powerful Processors (NVIDIA GPUs)
Augmented Reality (Apple Vision, Meta Quest)
All happening in real time.
Is it really that far fetched that we live in a simulation?
With how good this technology is getting…
We just might.
