📰 AI NEWS RECAP

Manus, Manus, Manus

Is Manus China's DeepSeek 2.0 moment?

(The answer might surprise you)

Chinese startup, Monica, unveiled something remarkable.

It's called Manus.

And its being hailed as the world's first true AI agent.

Unlike conventional chatbots—

Manus doesn't just respond to prompts.

It thinks, plans, and executes complex tasks—

Completely autonomously.

Launched on March 6—

It took less than 20 hours to go viral globally.

What makes this AI system so groundbreaking?

Manus uses a multi-agent architecture.

Different specialized sub-agents work together.

Across multiple applications and websites.

Independently.

Under central coordination.

The creators claim it outperforms OpenAI's DeepResearch.

It can:

Review resumes.

Research real estate.

Conduct stock analysis.

All from a single prompt.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗜𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹

Manus is currently available by invitation only.

The demand is so extreme that...

People are selling their invites for up to $14,000.

Let that sink in.

$14,000 just for access to an AI tool.

That's more than some people pay for a car.

𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 🤔

Yes, Manus is China's DeepSeek 2.0 moment.

This is China's second major AI breakthrough in weeks.

Following DeepSeek's release in January.

Suggesting China may be closing the AI gap with the US.

Or potentially surpassing it in certain areas.

US restrictions on chip exports haven't stopped China.

They've simply forced them to innovate differently.

And potentially more efficiently.

The question isn't whether China is in the AI race.

But are they now setting the pace?

OpenAI warns Trump administration that copyright restrictions will hand China the AI race. The company argues against state-level AI bills and for fair use protections, claiming American AI labs face "comparative disadvantage" while Chinese competitors like DeepSeek ignore intellectual property regimes.

OpenAI labels DeepSeek a "state-controlled entity" and calls for banning Chinese AI models. The company's proposal to the Trump administration claims Chinese data processing laws create security risks and intellectual property theft concerns, despite DeepSeek originating as a hedge fund offshoot rather than a government institution.

OpenAI secures $11.9 billion infrastructure deal with CoreWeave to expand compute capacity. The strategic agreement includes a $350 million investment in CoreWeave, complementing OpenAI's existing partnerships with Microsoft, Oracle, and the Softbank Stargate joint venture.

OpenAI launches comprehensive agent-building platform with enhanced APIs and open-source SDK. The unified system combines improved Responses API, integrated tools for web searching and computer operations, and orchestration capabilities for both single and multi-agent workflows.

Oracle introduces AI agents to revolutionize financial crime investigations in banking. The system automates evidence collection, analysis, and report writing for anti-money laundering work, helping banks identify suspicious activities more efficiently while reducing false positives by up to 60%.

Harvey AI introduces legal workflows that outperform human lawyers on complex tasks. The company's new agent system breaks down complex legal work into steps that can plan, adapt, and interact with professionals, with evaluations showing it produces superior analysis of court transcripts.

Browser Use tool experiences explosive growth after powering viral Chinese AI agent Manus. Daily downloads quintupled to 28,000 in one week as developers rush to build web agents that can autonomously navigate websites, with co-creator Gregor Zunic predicting "more agents on the web than humans by the end of the year."

Google DeepMind unveils Gemini Robotics models for controlling physical machines through voice commands. The AI system enables robots to fold paper, manipulate objects, and navigate environments they weren't specifically trained for, with a slimmed-down version available to researchers.

Google's Gemma 3 achieves 98% of DeepSeek R1's accuracy while using just one GPU instead of 32. The efficient model family supports 35 languages out-of-the-box with four sizes ranging from 1B to 27B parameters, making advanced AI accessible on devices from phones to workstations.

Apple's Siri team faces morale crisis after embarrassing AI feature delay. Senior director Robby Walker acknowledged the situation as "ugly" in an internal meeting, with staff feeling frustrated and unsupported after marketing had already promoted capabilities that now work correctly only 65-80% of the time.

🎓 AI COURSES OF THE WEEK

The harsh truth… Only 12.6% of people ever complete online courses.

So I’m launching a private AI training just for you.

Why?

Research shows people who take live trainings have an 85%+ completion rate.

Why my course?

As an ex-EY (Ernst & Young) Senior Manager:

I led an Intro to GenAI training to 250+ EY employees.

Supported GenAI solutions for Fortune 500 clients.

Was nominated to EY’s US AI Adoption Network.

Was asked to speak at GenAI conferences.

But like many of you, I didn’t know where to start.

Since March 2023 I’ve spent 1,000+ hours learning AI.

My goal? To save you time. Simple as that.
