📰 AI NEWS RECAP

OpenAI Deep Research 🔬

OpenAI just launched another game changer

Meet Deep Research

Autonomous research agent

Analyzes 100s of sources

Creates detailed reports

But first thing's first...

What is it?

It's OpenAI's latest AI agent that can independently conduct complex research tasks in 5-30 minutes that would take humans hours to complete.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗜𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀:

1️⃣ You provide a research question

2️⃣ It searches multiple web sources

3️⃣ It creates PhD level reports with citations

It's really as simple as that.

𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲🤔

If AI can do in minutes what it takes humans hours, days, or even weeks...

What does this mean for us?

These models are being tested by PhDs in niche fields that only a handful of people know.

The scary part?

The models are including things these PhDs hadn't considered.

My hope is AI can do the heavy lifting allowing humans to focus on more creative spaces.

Or better yet, we partner with AI to make breakthroughs that neither alone could achieve.

It gets better.

Another company copied Deep Research in 24 hours and made it free and accessible to all.

These models are getting smarter, faster, cheaper, and in some cases free.

Buckle up...this year is just getting started.

Hugging Face releases open-source clone of OpenAI's Deep Research in 24 hours. The community-driven project reaches 54% accuracy on the GAIA benchmark using code-based agents instead of JSON, demonstrating the power of open collaboration.

Sam Altman admits OpenAI's closed approach was "wrong for humanity." The CEO signals major shift toward open-source development after DeepSeek's success, though specifics of the company's new direction remain unclear.

British telecom O2's “AI Granny” wastes scammers' time with endless chatter. The Daisy chatbot keeps fraudsters on the phone for up to 40 minutes with stories about knitting and family, protecting vulnerable seniors from phone scams.

US bill threatens 20-year prison terms for downloading Chinese AI models. The proposed legislation would criminalize use of DeepSeek and similar open-source models, sparking debate about AI regulation and digital rights.

Anthropic challenges public to jail break their AI model Claude’s new safety system. The AI company's Constitutional Classifier blocked 95% of jailbreak attempts in testing, while maintaining low false positive rates and moderate computing costs.

GitHub Copilot evolves into autonomous coding assistant with new agent capabilities. The update enables AI-powered multi-file edits, predictive suggestions, and Project Padawan for handling entire development tasks with minimal human oversight.

Google releases Gemini 2.0 family with Flash, Pro and Flash-Lite models for different use cases. The new AI models offer enhanced reasoning abilities, with Flash optimized for speed, Pro for complex tasks, and Flash-Lite as a cost-efficient option.

Meta achieves breakthrough in brain-to-text AI with 80% character accuracy. Researchers successfully decoded typed sentences from non-invasive brain recordings, potentially enabling new ways to help people with communication disabilities.

Scientists create artificial neurons that match human neural response patterns. The breakthrough system from Northwestern and Georgia Tech operates 50 times more efficiently than previous designs while enabling real-time tactile sensing for robotics applications.
